How we work
What you can expect from every guide on Jackets.ie, and the lines we don't cross.
What our guides are
Our guides explain how jackets work: what the ratings and fabric names mean, how different types of insulation behave, how a jacket should fit and which styles suit which situations. They are written to answer real questions people ask before buying, with Irish weather and Irish life in mind.
How we research
We draw on widely published industry standards and manufacturer technical information (for example how waterproof ratings and fill power are measured), long-established fitting practice from tailoring and outdoor clothing, and climate information from Met Éireann. Where a figure is a rule of thumb rather than a precise standard, we say so.
What we don't do
- We don't claim to have tested products we haven't tested. Our current guides are educational and don't review individual jackets.
- We don't invent statistics, expert interviews or customer stories.
- We don't accept payment to include, rank or praise a brand or product.
- We don't copy product images from retailers. Photos on Jackets.ie are illustrative and don't show specific products or brands.
Product comparisons in future
We plan to add retailer listings, prices and comparisons. When we do, product information and images will come from authorised retailer feeds, prices will show when they were last checked, and any test or hands-on review will be clearly labelled as such.
Commercial relationships
Jackets.ie may in future earn commission from links to retailers. Commission will never decide what we recommend or how we rank anything. See our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections and updates
Each guide shows when it was last updated. We review guides when standards, materials or advice change. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will check it and correct it promptly.
